What are canopy lights used for?

Fuel stations, drop-off porticos, loading bays, covered entrances and building undercrofts — positions where a high, sheltered ceiling needs even, glare-controlled downward light over a large area.

What mounting height and spacing suit canopy lights?

Typically 3.5 to 6 metres mounting height, with spacing of roughly one to one and a half times that height. Higher canopies need narrower optics to keep light on the target area rather than spilling sideways.

What IP rating do canopy lights need?

IP65 as standard. Although the fixture sits under cover, wind-driven rain reaches most canopy edges, and the fixture is often washed down as part of routine cleaning.

How do I control glare from a canopy fixture?

Choose a recessed or diffused optic rather than a bare emitter, and avoid very high lumen packages at low mounting heights. At a fuel station or drop-off, drivers look up into these fixtures, so a low-glare optic matters more than raw output.
